The New Year Forming

On one of those quiet, snow-covered January days, I made my first appearance at the office as the newly elected president of the board of directors. As I walked past one of the rooms, I glanced into a workspace—and there, resting on the desk, was a calendar. One of those calendars that offers a positive affirmation for every single day of the year.

That day’s quote was by Ralph Waldo Emerson:
“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”

A simple sentence. And yet, profoundly powerful.

It sent me down a familiar path—scrolling through Emerson’s words, feeling once again how deeply they have shaped my inner world. His reflections are part of the architecture of my mental landscape. He reminds us that life is simple, though not easy. That our highest aspirations often wait in the distance, asking us to choose who we wish to become in this lifetime. And when that decision is made—truly made—the universe has a remarkable way of stepping in, offering support, guidance, and unexpected help along the way.

I often speak about what I call Magic Moments—those small, intentional pauses that allow one day to stand apart from another. A reminder that today, even an ordinary Thursday, is worthy of being remembered. I do not want my days to blur together, because each one is extraordinary and precious in its own quiet way.

So I make a habit of marking something special in my calendar. Sometimes it is just a few words: A Magic Moment. To me, this is purpose in its simplest form—a gentle practice of gratitude. A belief that something meaningful is hidden in every day, if we are willing to slow down and look a little deeper.

And so, on this particular day, I went searching for that moment.

There it was—staring straight at me.
A snow-covered driveway. My car buried under nearly two feet of snow. The most snowfall we’ve seen in thirty-five years.

The magic, it turned out, was not poetic or grand. It was practical. It was grabbing a shovel and clearing the way forward. My car had been standing still for almost two weeks, and now it was time to move again. I can promise you this: that moment of effort, presence, and quiet determination will linger with me for days to come.

You know that much of my work centers around self-knowledge—around elevating your inner voice and becoming your own strongest supporter. And I believe that in times like these, the greatest virtue is learning to truly find yourself. To embrace who you are, and who you are becoming.

Living from the strengths you already carry. Trusting them. Building upon them. And allowing them to guide you toward whatever your heart desires.

This is how a new year is formed—not all at once, but moment by moment. One choice, one intention, one Magic Moment at a time.
